Hi loves,
Its been 2 weeks since my trip to Costa Rica and I miss it more than what I thought I would! I miss the laid back life I was having #puravida, the yummy drinks, and of course spending time with my guy! I feel like we are two completely different people when we are on vacation, can you guys relate? We both own our own businesses, so our real life is non-stop. We are always on our phones, laptops, going from point A to Z, being parents to our little ones. So whenever we get to spend real quality time with each other… we take it and run 😉 Of course we still had work to do while we were in Costa Rica, but it was minimal, no late nights with our laptops. And that my friends feels amazing, kinda we like newlyweds!!
Resort
Costa Rica was always in my husbands bucket list. He’s been talking about traveling there since we’ve been together. So for Christmas, I surprised him with a getaway to this gorgeous country! Sometimes I’m a good wife like that 🙂 Our travel agent suggested we stayed at the RIU Palace Costa Rica in Guancaste. The resort itself was beautiful! It sort of reminds me of Greece with white stone buildings, basically a castle! The resort itself wasn’t as open as most resorts I have’d travel to. It wasn’t such a big deal, more like I’m just use to them looking a certain way.
RIU Palace has a shopping center with ice cream shops, boutiques, night club, casino, mini market, and souvenir shops. So cute!
Room
I didn’t take any pictures of our room, because it was basic. I was expecting a little more from our ocean view suit, but it wasn’t anything grand. There was some areas I felt they should renovate and make more modern like the shower. Now, the bed… so comfortable! I slept like a baby every single night!!
Pool
RIU palace has a total of 4 pools and a swim up pool bar. We didn’t get around going to each pool, there was one pool in the middle of the resort that was my favorite. Not many people were in it, so it sort of felt like our own pool. It was definitely nice and relaxing! And there were always waitresses going around getting your drink order… you can’t ask for more 😉
Beach
My favorite place one earth! None of the beaches in Costa Rica are private, so be prepared to have artist selling their items. But even so, we didn’t feel bothered by them. They are respectful of your space. Besides, this resort is sort of in the middle of no where surrounded by mountains. There’s really no other resort but us. The beach isn’t that white sand, clear water, but believe me when I say its BEAUTIFUL! So peaceful! I was also surprise to learn Costa Rica borders both the Caribbean Sea in the east and Pacific Ocean to the west. We were on the pacific side.
Spa
Every time me and the hubby take an alone vaca, we tend to get a couples massage. I rarley ever get to go to the spa when I’m home, let’s be real. So when I’m away, I sort of want to be pamper, who’s with me? The spa was simple, but worth it. Super clean and the staff was really friendly. We also did pedicures which ended with me laughing me ass off the entire time. My husband has never done a pedicure and watching his face expressions was priceless!!
Food
This is probably the most disappointed aspect of the RIU palace. The food was okay, there is a ton of different variety, but nothing out of this world. This resort has a buffet, Italian, Japanese, and steakhouse. During lunch if your at the pool, they’ll do a BBQ which was pretty good and breakfast was pretty amazing! The staff were very kind and tried to accommodated their guest wishes. They were very attending to us!
We usually do a mini photoshoot while on vacation. We have done it for a while and its something nice we like to do to remember our trip. I highly recommend doing a shot with them. Prices are pretty reasonable.
Excursions
We went on two the, one of them was the Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs. It was 3 hours away from out resort, so it was an all day excursion. I was aware that part of hiking in the jungle was going through hanging bridges. When our tour guy informed us about the hanging bridge, I actually didn’t give it much thought. Half way though the first bridge I was already having cold sweats! But when I got to the second bridge, which by the way was the tallest and longest bridge in the entire park… girl, I freaked! I literally had a panic attack when your crying but not really beause you can’t even catch your breath, that was me! I honestly don’t even know where I got the courage to continued, but I was so proud of myself for completing it! After our hike, the excursion continued to Tabacon Resort and Hot Spring. After a good 2 hour hike nothing sounded better than a little warm springs to help those sore muscles. The scenery here is from a luxrry magazine, not kidding! It was completely stunning and so relaxing.
Our last excursion was the Marlin del Rey Catamaran Sunset Tours. Unlike the Volcano excursion, this trip was only 30mins away to Playas del Coco. Very chill! You just sit back, have a drink and enjoy the ride. After about 1 hour sailing, for the first time ever I encounter seasick. Part of me was super annoyed with my own self, because I was so looking forward to this. Luckily it didn’t last long, the crew (who are awesome!) had some seasick medicine and I felt brand new. About an hour into the tour they stop at a white sandy beach where you can enjoy some snookering. On our way back to Playas del Coco we stopped and enjoy the sunset. This may sound silly, but I’ve never actually sat down and watch a sunset… ever! But I guess thats what vacation is all about!!
