Hi loves,
Tie waist pants, also knows as paper bag pants have been trendy since last year. If your unfamiliar with them, these pants are sort of loose fitting at the waist with a scrunchy detail. They can be styled as is or with a belt. As usual I was all over this trend, but there was one big problem, petite sizing seemed unrealistic. I couldn’t find a pair of tie waist pants that actually fit my size and frame. They were all too baggy, too long. Usually I would of gone to my tailor and to get them hem, but when it too loose everywhere… I’ll basically be changing everything about them. And not only would it defeats the purpose, but will end up costing more than the pants itself. See where I am going with this?
I had to love these tie wast pants from afar. You know when you see another girl rocking an item you love, but can’t or won’t wear it and your like “rock it for the both of us!” That was me until this I found this pair! These tie wast pants are ankle style which means us petite girls can wear them without going to your tailor. The best part is the color… it was prefect for me! I ordered these online, feeling a little hesitate and crossing my fingers it will workout. They run a little big, so I’ll suggest sizing down. Now that I finally found my true match with tie waist pants, here are my petite tips
Sometimes Basics are More than Basic
Yes babes! Keep it real basic. This includes jewelry. I went for this beautiful monogram necklace I just love! Its just enough to make a statement without being too much. There’s a lot going on already with this style of pants, we don’t need to add more.
Avoid Busy Prints or Overload Colors
You know I am all about prints and colors, you should see my closet! But there are times when we should keep it really minimal!
Always Belt It
This is a no brainer! Since tie waist pants tend to be looser around the waist, you always want to belt it. This helps bring the entire look more together. I went with a tie belt on my side. I don’t know about you, but if I tie it in the middle I will feel a little weird, as if I’m 7 years old #maybeitsjustme
Add Heels
There are some styles that can make it or break it, depending on your shoe choice. With some styles, like this one, I always suggest adding some height. Even with you go with a 1in heel, it can make such a difference!
Finish Your Look With a Jacket
Jackets are always a great layering piece, but it also helps your figure. Jackets insinuate your curves!
Since I love these Tie Waist Pants so much, I’ve linked similar ones that will work for my petite ladies 🙂

What are your plans for the weekend? I have a work event tonight, which I am really excited about! We are having a brow and braid bar at the shop. If you’ve been following Mom with Style for a while you know two things, I am very serious about my brows! There is no way I am leaving my house without filling them in, am I the only one with this problem? And two, I suck at doing my hair. I always wish I could do all those cool braids you see in Pinterest, hopefully I can learn a thing or two tonight. After my event, we are heading to my mother in law to spend easter with her. The kids will have fun spending time with their cousins. Hope you all have a great weekend and easter,

OMG..how funny, because I’m wearing tie pants in my post on Friday too!!! I felt so lucky to find this pair worked right off the bat (and I’m short too!!). But I never thought about tying the belt on the side—that’s brilliant!!

These are great tips on how to style this cute and adorable pants! Love your lace cardigan and blue heels. Both so fun, feminine and pretty!! I have been seeing the paper bag tie waist pants a lot on Instagram and online. I like how it looks but I am not drawn to them. Perhaps an in person meeting will change my mind! My dad is in town and will take my son tomorrow so hubs and I can go out! Now we just have to figure out where to go! Don’t you dislike that. The days you are so busy and you wished you had help you don’t and then your parents show up and says we can help you and then you are stump on what to do with yourself!! Story of my life! Ha. Happy Friday pretty lady! If you learn how to do them fancy braids please teach me! I need help too! Lol 😂

I always hear my sister and petite friends talk about how they can’t wear certain things, i.e. jumpsuits, high waist pants, maxi dresses, etc, but personally I think petite people look great in all of those trends! These pants look fabulous on you, I love the color palette of this look!
