Hi loves,
As much as I miss going to the nail salon, I have to admit I have enjoyed doing at home manicures. If you were to ask me months ago I would instantly said no. Getting my nails done was consider “me time”. You know a an hour or so where there’s no kids, work, chores, or dinner to attend to. Yet quarantine had different plans. At first I thought “well, I’m not going anywhere or seeing anyone so manicures aren’t important”. And they still aren’t considered important. But I also believe in doing things that make you feel good for you. And as little as having nail polish on sounds, it made me feel normal and helps me focus on doing something for myself!
I have tired lots of different manicure products over these past few weeks that I have loved. Others weren’t that great (I’ll leave those for the end). I tired glue nails, nail polish stickers, and stick on nails. I won’t go into details about actual nail polish, because to be honest I wasn’t given the gift of actually painting my nails without them looking like a 4 year old did it. Here are some of my favorites:

My goodness!! I added these first on my list because they are absolutely the best! These glue nails feel and look like the real thing. They come in so many different colors, shape, length, and even designs, you won’t look nowhere else. Don’t be alarm by the price. They are on the pricy side, but they are reusable… hello, deal! I used these nails 4 years ago when they were sold at Sephora. I remember how many people asked me who was a manicurist. What sets these glue on nails aside from others is their glue. Besides that the glue actually works and helps the nails last, but they are also gentle on your real nails. Once these nails are off, your actual nails still looks and feel healthy.

I love the idea of stick on nails. One, they protect your real nails. Two, there isn’t a tough process to take them out. I highly recommend these nails when you have a special occasion coming up, even when you go out on vacation, don’t have time to go to the nail salon, or for new moms. This manicure style doesn’t take long to do and it isn’t difficult. You also have a lot of varieties of options in color, style, and where to buy them from. They held strong on me for 5 days before two fell off. Mind you, I spend those 5 days doing lots of deep cleaning at home. The only suggestion I have with these, you have to make sure you press down hard for a better lasting power.

These were my least favorite. The glue sucks because it simply doesn’t really work regardless of how much you put on. Other than that problem these nails are good quality. I love the massive amount of options and selections when it comes to color and nail shape. I was even able to find some fancy options with gems!

My shit list (as I call it) of manicure kits that weren’t that great are kiss Impress Press on Manicure and Color Street nail polish strips. Kiss Impress Manicure kit weren’t as great as the regular Kiss Stick on Nails when it comes to its “sticking” power. I put these on one evening and woke up with a missing nail. As I came in contact with water, such as washing my hands, taking a shower they felt super flimsy. Also, anytime I used my nails like opening a can or washing my hair.
I bought a some of packs of Color Street nail polish strips a couple of months ago incase of an emergency, good thinking huh? I’m not sure if they lose their sticking power after a couple of months, but some of the stickers didn’t work to adhere to my nail bed. I also felt their nail sizing wasn’t ideal. Since you can use them on your toes or fingernails sizing was too big overall. Besides the sizing problem they also cracked the same day of applying. If you do use these nail stickers I suggest adding a top coat to your nails.
Have you used any manicure kits during quarantine? Which one has been your favorite?
