The summer days are slipping away! Even though I am very excited to wear all my new and favorite fall pieces, my wardrobe is still screaming summer. Maybe it’s more like my heart is still in summer mood. So what do you do when you still want to wear your summer wardrobe, but it’s almost the end of the season? Just change it up a bit! I always look for new ways to refresh my wardrobe, specially when we are almost at the end of the season. Today I’m mixing things up and wearing this gorgeous maxi dress as a kimono with jeans. Why haven’t I created this look sooner?
There is a story behind this dress. Two years ago I spotted this dress on a woman and immediately LOVED it. She looked completely fabulous. I am one of those people that genuine compliments you on your outfit. I mentioned how gorgeous she looked and asked her where she got this dress from. Unfortunately, she didn’t want me to know where she got it from. Or maybe she didn’t want no one to copy. I’m the opposite, but I get it. Regardless, I ended up finding it found it on Amazon this past spring! How it is that I can remember a dress I spotted for a quick second from two years ago, but can’t remember what I ate for lunch yesterday?!
This dress has such a fun and beautiful floral and bird print with hints of red. I just can’t get enough of it. Never thought I’ll be the girl rocking bird print, but here I am. It’s the perfect maxi dress to wear in the summer. It’s lightweight and has such a good flow to it. And you know how fancy I get when the wind hits my dresses in the right angle 😉 So how can I refresh this dress for the end of the season? Instead of wearing it as a dress with heels and call it a day, I decided refresh this look and used this dress as a kimono over a bodysuit and jeans. You can definitely switch the heels and opt for mules or flats instead for a day wear.
How do you refresh your end of the summer wardrobe?
Happy Friday! Any weekend plans? This week seemed to go by fast. It feels like yesterday we were on the beach eating snacks and enjoying the sun. I took some days off of work this week to unpack, get things organized and get the kids ready for school. Which leaves my weekend a little free to enjoy a bit. Smart thinking!! Enjoy the weekend,

Unfortunately, summer doesn’t end here, yet. I love all of the colors this dress adds to your look.

Mel, this is brilliant styling! And yes, this dress is an absolute show stopper with those rich color and bold pattern. I love wearing this style of dress as a kimono. And I am like you, if someone compliments my outfit, I immediately tell them where I got it! Well, I am glad you found the dress despite that woman trying to keep it a secret!
What a beautiful look! Love these colors on you!
Amazon has everything as I am finding out. I am so glad that you were able to find this dress because it is gorgeous. I love how you wore it as a kimono. It truly takes up an otherwise simple outfit up a notch! I will be helping my dad clean out my Grandma’s apartment this weekend. She is no longer able to stay there because she needs 24/7 care so I am doing my best making myself available for anything and everything to help her out. Enjoy your weekend and happy Friday!

What a stunning dress! And a fun way to wear it!
I always love seeing how you style outfits! Those earrings and shoes are just too cute!
This look is super – I love the colours, it’s a real statement piece. Thanks for hosting. Jacqui Mummabstylish
Such a beautiful dress, and I love how you’ve adapted it for cooler weather! The red earrings and sandals look fabulous with it! I can’t believe the lady you saw wearing it didn’t want to say where it was from – I usually can’t wait to tell people where I bought something if they say they like it…especially if it was a charity shop bargain! Thanks for linking up!
