Hi loves,
If there is one thing I have learned over the years dressing as a petite girl is making my seamstress my bestfriend! I know some get bother about having to take some clothes to get tailor.. you spend money buying these pieces and now you have to spend more money making it to fit your body. I get it. Even though I personally don’t mind the process, but finding clothes made for my body type is a win win! There are so many stores now that have a petite pieces, which makes the process easier. Most may think certain clothes do not fit us, because they are too long, but there is more to that. Along with our short legs, us petite girls also have a small frame. Our torso needs to be part of that equation.
A particular item that can be hard to find for us shorty is jumpsuits and rompers. They don’t fit right around your stomach and who wants to be walking around with a kangaroo pouch? No one! Lucky I have found this print jumpsuit that fits me just right. Prefect in length (as a women who is 4’10, that’s amazing), but most importantly it fits my frame. I bought this jumpsuit 2 years ago and it is one of my most used jumpsuit, since it hugs me all in the right places and actually makes me look taller. Unfortunately this printed jumpsuit isn’t available anymore, but I was able to pick some of my favs for this season, from bold prints, cropped style, and even an all white romper, which I can never resist ;).
Do you struggle with certain fashion pieces?
Do you guys have plans for cinco de Mayo? I won’t be out celebrating and eating at my favorite Mexican restaurant, but we will be hosting a margaritas ladies night at the shop!
Cheers to the weekend,

I completely understand how you feel, Mel. I usually need my pants to be taken up. Fortunately, most stores do it for free here in Spain. However, it’s still annoying because it means I have to wait a few days to start wearing my new jeans.
I am so jealous!! I wish that was the case here.

Since I’ve started sewing, it’s been so freeing to buy clothing! Because really—hardly anything fits perfectly off the hanger. A little tweak here and there can make such a difference!
This jumpsuit is perfect on you Mel!!

I am on the opposite side of the spectrum (tall girl over here!) but I totally feel your pain! Jumpsuits/rompers in general are made for a very specific body type (aka long legs and short torso!) Its great that they have started making petite jumpsuits now! I just wish they would have more talls out there! Loving the white one you picked-i’m eyeing it for my bridal shower!
Oh no!! They definitely do need to start making them for tall girls. I envy those girls who are 5’5 haha!

Jumpsuits are definitely something I haven’t really tried out yet…not sure if it would look great with my body type but you pull it off beautifully!

Mel, I love this jumpsuit on you! And it is so funny that I assumed petite women had great luck with jumpsuits because being 5’8″ and very long waisted, I cannot find a jumpsuit that doesn’t give me the dreaded front wedgie! So all along, I thought shorter women just looked great in jumpsuits with no problem! I guess I was wrong. The jumpsuit is a tricky piece, but you have definitely mastered it! You look fabulous.
