How to Style an Ugly Christmas Sweater

I’ll let you in a little secret, I have never worn an ugly Christmas sweater! Maybe I found them to be a tad bit tacky when I was younger. But now, I believe in having a little fun around the holidays and attend those ugly Christmas sweater parties.. in style of course. The kids are having a classroom Christmas party today and the theme is wearing an ugly Christmas sweater. After finding one for them (because there isn’t a crafty bone in my body to make one), the question they had was “what do they wear it with?” And this mama was thrilled to help. 

This made me think of creating an ugly Christmas sweater lookbook that isn’t your typical sweater and jeans. There is nothing wrong with keeping it causal, but I decided to think outside the box and figure out two ways to dress up this sweater. First, let me start by saying this reindeer sweater is far from ugly. I find it to be adorable and love the added sequins. Rather than being a full on sweater, it’s a waffle top. Perfect for those that don’t like the overwhelm feel of a sweater and prefer something light weight.

Style Your Ugly Christmas Sweater with a Skirt 

Obviously this look was definitely my favorite. I love styling something that’s meant to be causal and turning it into a night time look. I went for Christmas colors and styled this top with a hunter green mini skirt, tall boots, velvet bag, and some added bling bling statement earrings.

Make Your Ugly Sweater Trendy and Comfortable

I don’t know about you, but doesn’t leather leggings instantly dress up any look? To make this look trendy and comfortable it required my favorite faux leather leggings. Even though these are leggings, they have that ponte material to make it more put together and dressy. Finished this look with a blazer, booties, arm candy, and a belt bag.
