How to Pack for a Weekend Trip

Hi loves,

Who is anticipating the long weekend? My favorite part of summer is packing a bag and driving off to a destination. Am I the only one that gets excited to leave the drama at home and head somewhere stress free? There is something about packing some goodies in your bag and sleeping in a new bed that gets me so excited, specially if my packing involves swimsuits and cute graphic tee’s!

One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is plan looks. I love planning photoshoots (wait until you see Fridays post), daily looks, and definitely vacation looks. So before I start throwing things into my weekend bag, I literally set each outfit on the floor, kinda like a flat lay picture. I add everything I am wearing with that specific outfit which includes shoes, undergarments, accessories. I do this mostly because I can easily overpack. Its a curse I swear!

I try to maximize as many pieces as possible, because if I don’t my “weekend bag” will easily turn into 3 rollout suitcases. Now, I won’t lie and say I will only pack one top and wear it multiple times in my trip. Mama sweats and I wouldn’t want to wear the same top if it isn’t washed. But this doesn’t mean there aren’t items you can maximize. Think of shoes, hats, cardigans, coverups, accessories. You can wear them over and over, creating different outfits each time. For example, I only bring two pair of shoes for a weekend at the beach. A cute pair of sandals I can wear if we are going anywhere for dinner and a pair of pool flip flops. I pack shoes that are neutral, so regardless of what I am wearing, I know they’ll match.

Next I set my limit on how many outfits per day. I tend to give myself two looks per day, one day outfit and evening look. Of course this all depends what you are doing. Typically whenever we are away, we eat out for dinner. And you guys already know I could be Mrs. Fancy pants, so I leave something special for dinner time.

Unfortunately this memorial weekend we will be staying local, because next weekend I will have family over and figured we can celebrate then. But I am looking forward to going on the first boat ride of the season!
