Season change always calls for a closet detox! As much as I love shopping, I love organizing my closet even more!! There are items in your closet right now taking up space and not being used. I can’t stand those days when you can’t find anything to wear, mainly because I am not being organized. I am sure we all at one point, have felt like this way.
New Year, new goals! Time to ditch those tiring pieces in your closet or wardrobe you simply don’t need anymore!!
I am one of those people that love organizing, I will literally do this in my spare time (and yes I know I sound crazy). There’s nothing I love more than a closet with items I truly LOVE! The New Year always calls for a good closet detox!
1. That “cute” (but not really) dress you keep holding on to
Girl… let it go! Deep down you know you will NEVER wear it. You don’t know why in the world you bought it. It’s kinda cute, but ugly at the same time. You keep thinking “oh I’ll wear it”, “I just need to find the right matching shoes for it”. Most likely you’ll never, ever wear that dress!! It just sits there year after year. Let it go my friends!
2. Grandma’s Gift
We all love our grandmas, but that doesn’t mean you HAVE to hold on to those Christmas sweaters she got you 5 years ago. There are two scenario 1. She never noticed you never put it on or 2. She realized you didn’t like it. Most likely her feelings aren’t hurt! Why keep it? Donate that thoughtful sweater 😉 Grandma will still love you, I promise!!
3. Holy Leggings
Please don’t! Get rid off all those broken, damaged items sitting in your closet! #enoughsaid
4. It’s not my size no more, but I’ll hold on to it
I get it! There are clothes that just don’t fit us at the moment. And thats okay. Your working your butt off eating healthy plus exercising… it WILL pay off! You should keep some (not all the 28 pair of jeans 2 sizes too small), but why not store them somewhere else, maybe the hall closet? Clothes are expensive and buying things again is not fun. By placing them neatly somewhere else and keeping a minimal, helps you from picking up the same top every morning. You should always keep your closet with current items that fit and love!
5. Two of the same exact item
I will be lying if I told you this never happen to me. I must have at least 5 white, off the shoulder, bell sleeve top #yesido But there is always one out of the bunch you love the most! Go through all your dupes and pick your favorite or the one in best condition and ditch the rest!!
6. Your favorite mini skirt you wore in college
Your signature style always changes as you get older, different job, lifestyle changes. It’s okay if your favorite mini skirt from college just isn’t your favorite anymore! I guarantee you have other skirts you love just as much or maybe even more!
